Before chaging to windows7 i tried windows 7 upgrade advisery and it says folowong about the usb modem before instaling windows 7 go to device manufaturer to download latest driver after instaling install the driverswhat to do. any one here with windows 7 running usb modem noia siemens 2110 sucessfully

I am using Nokia Siemens C 2110 with Windows 7, but through ethernet port. Try whether you can get proper driver for Windows 7. You can try using current driver. It may work.

where can one find a USB driver latest for Siemens C2110 modem supplied by BSNL. i ran a Windows 7 compatibility test and it showed that the USB driver supplied by BSNL is not compatible. . in case one cannot find it and the daft people at BSNL take till 2025 to understand that there is an OS called Win 7 :impissed: if i buy a Netgear, Huawei, Dlink Modem where can i find BSNL settings. for Siemens C2110 only VPI VCI values need to be entered 0, 35 and connection changed to Bridged and next and next and save and it is good to go. .

well the problem is that the compatibility test would not be able to test out all the possible hardware available in the market. essentially, if a driver worked in Windows Vista it should work fine in Windows 7 as well as the driver component in both of these operating systems is pretty similar. the best option for you would be to test install Windows 7 and see if it works. and look for potential solutions install the vista/xp version.

have installed Windows 7 OEM release. . all my drivers worked except the Siemens C 2110 USB Driver it is a made for XP driver but worked very well for Vista SP 2 very weird considering all drivers which work with Vista SP 2 should theoretically work with 7. .so if i want to use the RJ 45 line for backup internet from the cable wallah and USB port for DataOne my choices are A dump Win 7 and go back to Vista SP 2 B dump BSNL modem and as soon as a Win 7 compatible modem comes out in 2 - 3 months get one not very smart thing to do since BSNL will bear no responsibility if speed drops they will always blame my modem C wait 5 - 7 years for BSNL to release a Win 7 driver :notallowed:i guess A is smart choice hyea: considering that in last 24 hours i have not seen anything terribly interesting in Win 7 apart from a rather useless Aero Peek and had to make a manual fix to get back Quick Launch to the right side of my Taskbar . . and the constant use of Aero Peek when switching from any to any window is needlessly making my CPU 5 degree Centigrade hotter than it did with Vista oddly Vista kept my CPU cooler than XP SP 3 . . there are other minor irritations too including not being able to use Skype 3.8 and having to use Skype 4.1 a pain in the neck transition to a new interface bottomline after 24 hours of intensive use. . nothing to get very excited in Win 7 if you have Vista Home Premium / Ultimate SP 2

Usually, it is advisable to uninstall the drivers. copy to a new location C:/MY drivers/USB 2110 modem.2. restart system and connect modem USB to USB portLet Windows 7 detect the hardware.ask for drivers.Try

the question of uninstall does not arise. . Win 7 is not even allowing install in first place. . trying to install for few minutes then coming up with a message incompatible driver visit manufacturer s website for more details etc. . Vista is straight away accepting the XP driver for USB modem i cannot say for sure that Vista will have done that in Jan 2007 but it is after SP 2 ; similarly after a service pack Win 7 might also but that is at least in Feb 2011 . . going from Vista to Win 7 i made a clean install. . the BSNL modem driver refuses to install. . i downloaded 3 or 4 BSNL drivers from -- link removed -- as well as one from Calcutta Telephones. . but they were the same version as on my BSNL cd and also did not install. . i have changed back to Vista. . for those only using DataOne there will be no problem since through RJ 45 it is running fine i will slightly qualify that word fine - a test torrent of slackware Linux which reaches 170kBps in Vista with TCP half open disabled and incoming net max half open set to 40 reaches only 150 in Win 7. . Win 7 has TCP half open already disabled. . but i guess its ethernet optimize tweaks are not fully worked out yet for those using a computer with DataOne a backup it creates a problem to have 2 RJ 45 lines. . it will mean installing 2 LAN cards which will mean an overheating graphics card since the hot air from graphics card will have no where to go to and also no add on sound card, tv tuner etc with normal motherboards upto Rs 5000 in price i use DataOne through USB port and local cable internet backup via RJ 45 mentionable here is that apart from that unlimited plans are expensive my local cable internet over ethernet is far better in speed than BSNL. . the 512 kBps connection regularly gives 1 mBps so Vista for now SP 2 is amazingly stable till Google comes out with Chrome OS in 12 months time :yahoo:

in the internet the same Siemens C 2110 modem driver is getting passed around the driver file details inside the folder . since the modem is tailor made for BSNL the vendor will not update driver unless BSNL asks it to. i guess that is not going to happen before 2015 at earliest. i did download 3 - 4 folders of Siemens C 2110 driver. . all same version. . which came with original cd . . anyway Vista is working fine and i will have gone back to Vista in any case since the new taskbar in 7 is not worth the learning curve. everything minimizes to an icon. . if i have 2 Excel files open they will minimize to one Excel icon. . when i hover my mouse over the icon both will give a small window peek. . i have to move my icon into the small window i want and click and it will become active. . if one is transferring data by typing from file to file 70 times an hour then the additional movement needed is pain in the neck. . i can now draw my cursor down to taskbar to the approximate position where the needed Excel file icon is on taskbar and left click to open. . in 7 the mouse has to go near left corner hover move and click. . too much work and i have to take my eyes from the screen while doing it. . anyway thanks for the support

yes correct. . i should have phrased my post better as below. . if i use Aero Peek then there is a steep learning curve / behaviour modification curve which is perhaps not worth it for any OS before its first SP. . if i do not use Aero Peek but traditional settings then why upgrade to Win 7 at all apart from Homegroup Networking which most of us are not going to do anyway . . i had thought Aero Peek will be better eye candy and better for productivity in the sense that the New Control Panel in XP made a lot more sense to me than the old chaotic Classic View

i guess i can tell only when i switch back to vista if i would miss the win 7 features at all

i do not like the concept of libraries right now. might start using them when i switch to windows 7 eventually.
